Lady Raiders sweep Blessed Sacrament

POWHATAN—The Southampton Academy volleyball team swept Blessed Sacrament Huguenot in a Thursday Virginia Commonwealth Conference match.

Set scores were 25-15, 26-24 and 25-17.

Katelyn Newsome had five kills and Brooke Whitley had two. Whitley and Mason Pope had six aces each, while Newsome had two. Whitley Smith added 10 assists and Kelsey Whitehead had five.

“It was a little bit better game,” said Coach Frank Seal. “We’re getting a little more used to each other.”

The 2-0 Lady Raiders host VCC opponent Brunswick Academy at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4.
