Franklin parents would like to meet with Dr. Belle

Published 10:59am Saturday, September 29, 2012

To the Editor:

My children attend Franklin Schools.

For how long, I don’t know?

I am tired of the runaround, the sweeping under the rug, the bold-faced lying. It’s time we called a town hall meeting.

Dr. Belle needs to answer questions without deferring to colleagues, without questions being reviewed, censored and vetted from the citizens of our community (“A tale of a meeting,” Sept. 2). It’s time we had some answers as to why, since she has come aboard, that our scores are still on a downward slope.

Would Dr. Belle be open to this?

I have plenty of other concerned citizens that would gladly sign a petition.

Good point shocked. There are people other than the supt who have power and also hidden agendas at work. Also, the problem within FCPS is systemic. Get rid of the supt and you still have alot of changes to make in how things are done. This is just for starters because as you say the problem is so much bigger than that.

You are correct. The problem is one that will require the concerted effort of many people across our city and even at the state level. Who will lead the charge? It is the responsibility of the person our school board hired and holds accountable to gather whatever resources possible in an effort to turn the tide. Unfortunately, it also takes the continuity of good leadership to be able to craft a strategic couse that involves the whole community. Without a strong leader we drift.

Unfortunately, some citizens feel better when all blame is placed on the leader! I do agree that she should be held accountable, but this problem is so much bigger than Dr. Belle! For those of us who parent our children daily, it is difficult to imagine the issues that schools are facing. The “blinders” need to come off- these are not the “good ‘ol days” anymore!!

Dr. Belle has shown a complete lack of leadership from the beginning. The school board bought out one contract from someone who was performing to a much higher standard but who made errors in judgement. It is time for Edna King and company to deal with the serious problem of Dr Belle’s poor leadership and communication skills. It will cost more to ignore her ineptness.

If Ms. Belle has gone into hiding Seal Team 6 can find her.

I would think for all concerned, that this would be a good idea. No excuses, just the facts.

Ms. Belle has gone into hiding more than and Al Qaeda, she never comes out and sends messages thru a courier. That is not the type of leadership we Americans need. Ms. Belle please step aside and let someone else take over, someone that can get the job done, someone that is tuff on education not handouts.

When the parents are reacting out and Ms. Belle does not respond shows she cannot handle the position. It time for the school board to stop fooling their selves, Ms. Belle serves no purpose anymore and neither do certain members of the school board. It is time to stop the blame game! Ms. Belle dropped the ball, leave!

If City Council wants to meet with the school board and Ms. Belle and “forget the past, wipe the slate clean”, you can’t do that. In this case the past has to be fixed first are you cannot move forward.

No child left behind, let me tell you something, IT IS OKAY TO FAIL SOMETIMES! Not all kids are “A” students. Not all kids can play sports. Some are leaders and some are followers. Some teachers went to Colleges to learn to handle the harder to teach kids, most went to Colleges to learn how to teach the average kid. Let the teachers teach, their way.

        SandMan,
While Dryrain’s spelling and grammar may not be spot on, the point is as plain as the nose on your face. Back off.

How many of you would like to have your economic future to be dependent on Franklin’s schools performing better as measured by Fed & State standards and be given a few years to get it done? The superintendant may or may not be a problem, but that’s certainly not the only problem.

@sandman – sorry about that. Between Ebonics and and auto-correct I never had a chance. Maybe I should let my secretary proofread everything first..
