Telephone scam reported in Franklin

Published 10:13am Monday, March 4, 2013

FRANKLIN—Franklin police reported a scam that involved a resident receiving phone calls from someone with a thick Jamaican accent, who claims he’s with the federal government and offering $10 million.

To get the money, a fee of less than $100 is required.

“Needless to say, this has proven to be bogus,” said Lt. Tim Whitt.

@naivegirl: I take your comments with a grain of salt because you obviously idolize Obama and are just another fool who thinks he is the second coming of Christ. Every time someone expresses something negative about him you call them disrespectful, in poor taste, and unintelligent.

On the serious side… any idiot who really thought they would get $10 million for $99.99 deserves exactly what they got.

Skooch, Your attempt at humor was not only disrespectful, in poor taste, and indicative of your lack of intelligence, it also made light of a problem that is frightening and intimidating to older residents in the area. Perhaps you should make sure your brain is in gear before opening your mouth.

Interesting that this is being reported now. I reported a similar issue to FPD over a year ago and since the calls were originating from outside of the country I was directed to call the FBI. Guess how far that went?

I’ve never heard a “thick Jamaican “accident”"? Is this as written from the receiver of the call the Police, or the TN?
