I was very saddened to receive a phone call learning of the passing of Chris this past Saturday from his mother. I am a Captain in a local fire department and Chris had been a volunteer with us in the past. Chris had moved from this area but had always wanted to come back to again volunteer in this community. I learned from his mother that he was very interested in returning to the department as he had stated to me also several times in the past. Chris had been an outstanding young man in our organization and had helped so many people, not only the citizens in our community but he helped us in our organization. He was always eager to learn and willing to help anyone and everyone. Chris could always put a smile on your face just by smiling at you. He was a huge asset to our community and I am so very saddened that I will not be able to have him stand beside me in our department again. I do know and believe with all my heart that Chris is a special angel and will ALWAYS have a place in our hearts and will always be looking over us. To Chris’s mother, I thank you for the phone call and also for you allowing this wonderful young man to be a part of my life while I had the opportunity to do so. He will be missed by his family in the Fire and EMS service as well. RIP Chris.
