WINDSOR—An error creating a shortfall of $14,640 in the 2013-2014 Windsor operating budget, caused by a faulty computer program, has been corrected.
Council adopted a resolution Tuesday allowing for adjustments in revenues in the budget to balance the financial statement.
Town Manager Michael Stallings told council members in June that a review of the budget books showed that the Excel program had not added two columns correctly, thus creating the shortfall. He suggested revising some revenue projections to provide the additional funds.
The amended budget calls for appropriations by three projected line items; $1,640 by local sales tax, $10,000 by merchants and other licenses and $3,000 by traffic fines to balance the budget.
In another matter, a personnel policy revision was also adopted for salaried employees.
The revised policy states that all salaried office employees shall work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with the normal workday starting at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break.
If an employee desires an hour for lunch, he must work until 5:30 p.m.
Council also scheduled a public hearing for the August Council meeting on appropriating funds to complete renovations on the new police station. Stallings said funds not used at the end of the fiscal year lapsed, therefore, new appropriations had to be made.
He added that contractors were about half way through renovating the building for the department.
