Southampton Storm 18U Gold triumphs at South Park Spookfest Tournament

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.—The Southampton Storm 18U Gold travel team played in the Surrender to South Park Spookfest two-day tournament, sponsored by East Coast Sports Association, during the weekend of Oct. 26-27.

On Saturday, the 18U Gold team played three pool games. The first was against WC Hurricanes, with the 18U Gold team defeating the Hurricanes 9-0. The second game was a 6-5 victory over the Lady Aces 16U team. In the final game, 18U Gold defeated Carolina Synergy 3-0.

On Sunday, the 18U Gold team started off the morning with a 10-4 win against the Carolina Fear. With four wins in the books and only allowing nine runs, the seeded 18U Gold team was in first place coming out of pool play.

With that ranking, the 18U team was given a bye in the playoffs. Starting at 3 p.m., the 18U Gold team started its track toward the championship game by facing the WC Hurricanes, and putting another win in the books, defeating them 14-2. Next they faced the Carolina Fear again and won the semi-final game 10-0. The championship game was against Priority Elite, which ended in a 6-5 victory for Southampton Storm 18U Gold.

The Southampton Storm 18U Gold team is comprised of young ladies from Southampton County, Emporia, Prince George, Sussex, Suffolk and Windsor.

They have had a full travel schedule so far this fall with two more showcase tournaments yet to play before they begin winter conditioning. The first weekend in November the team will be traveling to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the ASA Down n Dirty Classic Scholarship Tournament. During the third weekend in November, the 18U Gold team will be competing at the WFC Early Signing Showcase in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Southampton Storm is a fourth-year travel ball organization that has four teams: 12U, 14U Red, 14U Black and 18U Gold. The Southampton Storm Organization is designed to create a safe, structured environment where fast-pitch skills and sportsmanship can be taught, and girls can experience the joys of fast-pitch while developing into young women of character.
