The Broncos opened their season with a 59 -44 win against the Dukes.

The Broncos jumped out with a quick 10-3 lead over the Dukes. The Broncos Terry Warren working underneath the basket pumped in 6 of those points as the Broncos outscored the Dukes 14-6 in the first quarter of play.

The Dukes, warming up in the second quarter and taking advantage of a slow start by the Broncos combined with a few turn-overs, closed to within 13-17 with 4:41 remaining in the 2nd quarter. But the Broncos, after a time-out, cranked up the offense and went on an 8 to 1 run to close out the first half 25-14.

After the half, the Dukes started their offense slow. The Dukes dropped in two three pointers by Justice Chapman and Austin McCaskey and narrowed the Bronco lead to 35-27 with 1:35 remaining in the third quarter. Despite the run by the Dukes, the Broncos held on to hold a 39-29 led at the end of the quarter.

The fourth quarter opened with both teams trading baskets but with 4:56 remaining in the game the Broncos were still in charge with a 43-35 lead. The last quarter was the Broncos best quarter as they outscored the Dukes 17-13 in points.

Bronco coach Danny Dillon remarked after the game that he was well pleased with the first win. He stated that many of his players being on the football team were late coming to practice due to the Broncos run during the state playoffs. He stated that he had a well rounded team and was pleased with the play of all of his players.
