Boykins, Newsoms to celebrate too
Published Friday, July 3, 2009
Sedley isn’t the only Southampton County community having a big party for Independence Day.
Boykins and Newsoms have several events planned.
“We will have a little bit of everything,” said Boykins Mayor Spier Edwards of his town’s celebration, which will be Sunday.
There will be sports, food, activities for children, a DJ and fireworks. Boykins’ celebration starts at 3 p.m. at Raymond Parker Park.
“Bring your children and have a nice outing,” Edwards said.
The town will also commemorate its 125th anniversary during Sunday’s celebration, although Edwards said that there is a main anniversary celebration planned for November.
Newsoms will have its July Fourth parade at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Lineup will begin at 5 p.m. at Newsoms Baptist Church.
