Benefit helps Pittman family

FRANKLIN—Bikers from all over gathered at Fred’s Restaurant on a recent Saturday to raise money for the family of 34-year-old Michael Pittman, a local man with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
The engines from the 72 motorcycles participating made the street rumble, according to Fred’s owner David Rabil.
“The whole building started vibrating,” he said. “I watched them ride out of Franklin from the upstairs window. Man, what a sight. It was something to see.”
Kevin Pittman, Michael’s brother, said he and Poker Run co-founder Sidney Wilson were moved to tears when they saw the outpouring of love and support at the run.
“The support that we got was overwhelming,” he said. “We couldn’t have done this without the help of family and friends.”
Three hundred people participated in the fundraiser, which also included a barbecue sale and horseshoe tournament.
Jeff Denson, who won the Poker Run, donated his $500 winnings back to the family, as did Joe Vick, who won a 50/50 raffle for $550.
