Raja Koduri has built a career defined by architectural reinvention. Across multiple decades and multiple industry cycles, Raja Koduri has played a central role in advancing graphics processing units from specialized rendering engines into core infrastructure for artificial intelligence, data-intensive workloads, and high-performance computing. Today, Raja Koduri continues that trajectory as Founder of Oxmiq Labs, focusing on a software-first, cross-platform approach to GPU intellectual property.

The modern computing landscape demands more than incremental improvements. AI training models, real-time data analytics, and large-scale simulations require scalable architectures and adaptable software frameworks. Raja Koduri has consistently operated at this intersection of silicon design and software ecosystems, guiding teams and organizations through pivotal transitions in the GPU industry.

Raja Koduri began building foundational expertise in graphics architecture early in a career that would eventually span S3 Graphics, ATI Technologies, AMD, Apple, and Intel. At ATI Technologies, Raja Koduri served as Chief Technology Officer of the Graphics Products Group. During this period, Raja Koduri led GPU architecture efforts across multiple DirectX generations, helping establish ATI as a market-leading GPU vendor before its acquisition by AMD.

At AMD, Raja Koduri took on the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Architect of the Radeon Technologies Group. Reporting directly to CEO Lisa Su, Raja Koduri was responsible for rebuilding AMD’s graphics organization. Under Raja Koduri’s leadership, AMD architected three GPU generations—Polaris, Vega, and Navi—restoring competitiveness and strengthening the company’s position in the graphics market. Raja Koduri also helped establish AMD’s data center GPU segment, laying groundwork for AI-focused accelerators that evolved into the MI series.

Beyond product launches, Raja Koduri’s tenure at AMD included securing major semi-custom wins with Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox. These partnerships reinforced the importance of scalable GPU IP across gaming, console ecosystems, and broader compute platforms. Raja Koduri’s leadership during this period demonstrated an ability to align architecture, product strategy, and business execution.

Raja Koduri later joined Apple as Director of Graphics Architecture. During this phase, Raja Koduri drove the transition to Retina displays across the Mac lineup, enabling high-resolution performance while advancing power-efficient GPU design. The work completed during this time influenced broader expectations for visual fidelity and graphics optimization across the consumer hardware industry.

At Intel, Raja Koduri served as Executive Vice President and Chief Architect of the Architecture, Graphics, and Software organization. In this role, Raja Koduri led a global team of more than 2,500 engineers responsible for Intel’s discrete GPU strategy. One of the most significant milestones under Raja Koduri’s leadership was the delivery of Ponte Vecchio, a peta-scale GPU built using 47 chiplets in a single package. This modular design represented a new approach to scaling compute performance.

Raja Koduri also led the launch of Intel Arc, marking Intel’s re-entry into the consumer discrete GPU market. Alongside hardware development, Raja Koduri emphasized the importance of a robust software ecosystem. Initiatives such as oneAPI and GPU driver development reflected Raja Koduri’s belief that hardware performance must be supported by accessible and adaptable software tools.

In 2023, Raja Koduri founded Oxmiq Labs in Campbell, California. The formation of Oxmiq Labs represents a strategic shift toward licensable GPU intellectual property and full-stack software solutions. Rather than focusing solely on proprietary hardware, Raja Koduri is building Oxmiq Labs around a model designed to expand access to advanced compute infrastructure.

Oxmiq Labs raised $20 million in seed funding from strategic investors including MediaTek. The company assembled a team of GPU and AI architects with more than 200 years of combined experience. Under the direction of Raja Koduri, Oxmiq Labs is developing a full-stack GPU platform that includes OxPython, OxCore, OxQuilt, and OxCapsule. This approach reflects a long-standing principle in Raja Koduri’s leadership philosophy: architecture must integrate seamlessly with software.

A defining element of Raja Koduri’s current work is a commitment to democratizing high-performance compute. As AI models grow in size and complexity, access to scalable GPU platforms becomes increasingly important. Raja Koduri’s focus on licensable GPU IP and cross-platform software aims to provide broader deployment flexibility across enterprise, research, and infrastructure environments.

Throughout a career that spans consumer graphics, console ecosystems, enterprise GPUs, and AI acceleration, Raja Koduri has maintained a consistent emphasis on bridging hardware and software. Raja Koduri has repeatedly demonstrated that innovation requires alignment between silicon architecture, developer tools, and platform integration.

Leadership at scale has also been a recurring theme in Raja Koduri’s professional journey. Whether rebuilding AMD’s graphics division or overseeing Intel’s Architecture, Graphics, and Software organization, Raja Koduri has guided large engineering teams through complex product cycles. The ability to deliver first-of-kind architectures while scaling global organizations distinguishes Raja Koduri within the semiconductor industry.

As artificial intelligence reshapes industries and drives demand for specialized compute infrastructure, architectural flexibility becomes a strategic priority. Raja Koduri’s work at Oxmiq Labs reflects an understanding that future platforms must be modular, interoperable, and software-enabled from the ground up.

The evolution of the GPU from a graphics accelerator to a core AI engine has unfolded over decades. Raja Koduri has participated directly in many of the defining milestones along that path. From early DirectX-era GPUs at ATI to advanced AI accelerators at Intel and AMD, Raja Koduri’s career mirrors the broader transformation of compute itself.

Today, Raja Koduri’s focus remains on building systems that enable innovation beyond a single company or ecosystem. Through Oxmiq Labs, Raja Koduri is advancing a vision of high-performance computing that emphasizes scalability, cross-platform compatibility, and architectural openness.

In an industry defined by rapid change and technical complexity, sustained impact requires both engineering depth and long-term perspective. Raja Koduri’s professional history reflects continued engagement with both. As the demand for AI infrastructure accelerates, Raja Koduri’s contributions to GPU architecture and software integration remain closely tied to the next generation of compute platforms.
