TIDEWATER

In every generation, some leaders quietly build lasting influence through faith, service, and consistency. Andrew Farhat, Lead Pastor of St. John’s Church and School Denver, stands among them. His ministry reflects a lifelong journey marked by transformation, learning, and commitment to sharing the Gospel through preaching, teaching, and outreach.

From a Seattle childhood to leadership in Denver, Andrew Farhat has walked a path defined by growth in faith and devotion to family, education, and community. His story reveals how ordinary beginnings can lead to extraordinary purpose when guided by God’s calling.

Early Life and Foundation of Faith

Born in 1980 in Seattle, Washington, Andrew Farhat is the son of Bill and Ferial Farhat, Lebanese immigrants who left their homeland seeking stability and opportunity. Growing up in Lake City, Seattle, Andrew Farhat absorbed lessons of perseverance and gratitude from his parents, who built their new life through hard work and faith.

In his youth, Andrew Farhat excelled both in academics and athletics. His achievements in high school sports—earning recognition as a varsity athlete in football, basketball, and baseball, and being voted team MVP—showcased his discipline and drive. Yet, beneath these successes, Andrew Farhat felt a deeper spiritual longing. Life’s rewards seemed fleeting without a greater purpose anchoring them.

A Turning Point: Transformation of the Heart

Like many young adults, Andrew Farhat entered college with ambition but without spiritual direction. His early college years were marked by pursuit of excitement and social experience. However, a pair of sobering incidents changed everything—a night in jail for underage drinking and a serious car accident that could have taken his life.

Those moments became defining chapters in Andrew Farhat’s story. They prompted deep reflection and led him to seek truth. Through conversation with his mother and prayerful consideration, Andrew Farhat realized that lasting joy could not be found in temporary pleasures. He began attending The Inn, a college ministry at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, where hundreds of students gathered weekly to worship and explore faith.

There, Andrew Farhat met mentor Greg Millikan, who invited him to read Letters from a Skeptic. This book, along with Bible study in the Gospel of John, helped Andrew Farhat understand the reality of Christ’s resurrection and the meaning of redemption. The moment he grasped that Jesus was the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” faith became personal.

That revelation marked the beginning of a new life. Andrew Farhat committed himself to Christ and began to share his faith with friends, driven by gratitude and conviction.

Education and the Call to Ministry

Even as Andrew Farhat pursued an engineering degree at the University of Washington, the call to ministry grew stronger. A mentor advised him to complete his studies, allowing maturity and preparation before seminary. Following that guidance, Andrew Farhat graduated in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and accepted a position with the U.S. Navy in Bremerton, Washington.

While working as an engineer, Andrew Farhat sensed that God was preparing him for pastoral work. After two years of prayer and discernment—and with the support of his wife, Daisy—he followed that call. The couple relocated to St. Louis in 2005, where Andrew Farhat began studies at Concordia Seminary.

At seminary, Andrew Farhat developed a deep love for Lutheran theology and church history. He excelled in Greek and historical theology, building the foundation for his future preaching and teaching. In 2009, Andrew Farhat earned his Master of Divinity, equipped to serve both church and community.

Early Ministry and Lessons in Leadership

Upon graduation, Andrew Farhat accepted a pastoral call to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Roseburg, Oregon. It was a challenging first assignment—marked by financial strain, leadership conflict, and internal division.

Through prayer, patience, and faith, Andrew Farhat led the congregation toward unity. Within a year, the church regained financial health, reconciled with past disputes, and refocused on outreach and service. This season of ministry reinforced Andrew Farhat’s conviction that leadership in the church must be rooted in humility, truth, and grace.

His ability to rebuild trust and inspire others through Scripture became a hallmark of his ministry—a quality that continues to shape his leadership today.

St. John’s Church and School Denver: A Growing Ministry

In 2018, Andrew Farhat received a Divine Call to become Campus Pastor at St. John’s Church and School Denver, serving the Wash Park site of the multisite congregation. His arrival marked a new season of growth for the church. Known for combining strong biblical teaching with accessible communication, Andrew Farhat became a guiding presence in the Denver faith community.

As the congregation expanded, Andrew Farhat also deepened his leadership training, completing certification in the Senior Leader Track of the Pastoral Leadership Institute. In 2021, following the departure of the previous lead pastor, the congregation extended a new call for Andrew Farhat to become Lead Pastor of both the church and school.

Today, St. John’s Church Denver and St. John’s School Denver continue to thrive under his leadership, serving families in Denver and supporting mission partners in ten countries. The ministry’s reach—over half a million people annually—illustrates a commitment to Gospel-centered teaching and community transformation.

Teaching Through Media: The Transformed Podcast

Faith communication has expanded beyond the pulpit, and Andrew Farhat has embraced digital ministry as part of his outreach. From 2022 through 2024, he co-hosted Transformed, a podcast featuring conversations on faith, discipleship, and everyday life. Joined by Daisy and other staff members, Andrew Farhat guided nearly ninety episodes, including a discussion with Christian hip-hop artist FLAME.

Through the podcast, Andrew Farhat extended the mission of St. John’s Church Denver beyond its physical campuses, connecting with listeners seeking encouragement and biblical perspective. Looking ahead, Andrew Farhat plans to launch a new five-minute daily podcast in 2026 focused on short reflections of inspiration and Scripture—a continuation of his mission to bring God’s Word into the daily rhythm of life.

Faith, Family, and Community

At the heart of every part of Andrew Farhat’s journey stands his family. He and Daisy live in Denver with their four children, balancing ministry and family life with gratitude. Together, they enjoy outdoor activities, travel, and the city’s vibrant food culture.

The family’s life reflects the same values that guide St. John’s Church and School Denver: faith, education, and service. For Andrew Farhat, ministry is not confined to Sunday mornings—it extends into every relationship and moment of daily living. His leadership demonstrates that faith is most powerful when lived out consistently in both personal and public life.

The Ongoing Impact of a Faithful Life

Over two decades of ministry, Andrew Farhat has remained steadfast in his calling to preach, teach, and serve. His story illustrates how faith transforms direction, shaping both character and vocation. Each chapter—from his youth in Seattle to his leadership in Denver—reveals a pattern of listening, responding, and growing in God’s grace.

At St. John’s Church and School Denver, Andrew Farhat continues to model leadership grounded in Scripture and service. His dedication to truth and humility has guided congregations through challenge and change, always pointing back to the Gospel.
