TIDEWATER

Tournaments, Learn to Play sessions, a raffle, and a live auction will raise money for the Mary T. Klinker Veteran Resource Center at the National Guard Armory.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (November 1, 2026) Red, White, and Clix, a veteran-founded nonprofit, will hold its 2026 tabletop gaming weekend on Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8, at the National Guard Armory, 5218 Haggerty Lane, in Lafayette. The event raises money for the Mary T. Klinker Veteran Resource Center in Lafayette. Newcomers, teams, and solo players are all welcome.

Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. each day, dice roll at 9 a.m., and the hall runs until 10 p.m. Pay fees at the door by cash, credit card, PayPal, or Venmo. Checks are not accepted.

What attendees can do

The weekend centers on HeroClix, the tabletop miniatures game, with something for every experience level.

  • 300 Modern, Saturday: $40 per player. Swiss rounds based on attendance, with the top 32 players advancing to a playoff bracket and no player cap.
  • Team Sealed, Sunday: $240 per three-player team, or $80 per player, using Dungeons & Dragons HeroClix. Limited to 20 teams, with the top 8 advancing to a playoff bracket.
  • Battle Royales, all weekend: $25 per player. Four-player games start every two hours from 9 a.m. Saturday, and every game counts toward the weekend standings.
  • Learn to Play, on request: $10 per person. Each session is personal coaching with Major Grover Smith, plus a starter kit with everything a new player needs.

Nobody needs a team to take part. The organizers ask first-time players to come along and say it is their first time, and they will find them a seat and someone to play with.

Prizes, a raffle and a live auction

Every tournament player receives a participation prize, and prizes stack as players climb the standings. Champions in 300 Modern, Team Sealed, and the Battle Royale standings each take home an RWC trophy. Embleholics has donated 50 custom challenge coins that will be handed out across the weekend, and one player will be named the Major Grover “G-Man” Smith Fellowship winner. That award goes to the person who best represents friendship, honor, generosity, and fair play, not to the strongest player.

Publishers, game stores, and supporters have donated more than 90 games, accessories, and collectibles for the raffle and auction. Raffle tickets are sold at the event for $5 each or five for $20, with draws during dinner on Saturday and at the end of the day on Sunday.

The live auction starts Sunday, right after the Team Sealed tournament finishes. Its headline item is a Hamilton Khaki watch with an army green face, donated by Trifecta Watches, an authorized Hamilton dealer in Lafayette.

How to register or donate

Players in 300 Modern and Team Sealed can pre-register through the event registration page, which links to HCUnits, the HeroClix tournament site. No payment is taken online. Pre-registering gives organizers a head count for food and tables. Battle Royales and Learn to Play need no pre-registration.

Saturday lunch, Saturday dinner, and Sunday lunch are served on site at $10 per person, per meal. Snacks and drinks are free all weekend. Purdue’s homecoming game falls on the same weekend, so out-of-town visitors should book rooms early. The event page lists hotels and the full schedule.

People who cannot attend can still help. The donation page at redwhiteandclix.org accepts any amount through PayPal or Venmo. Red, White, and Clix Inc. is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The organization does not give tax advice.

The veteran mission behind the tables

Red, White, and Clix was founded by Wesley Robertson, who served as a Combat Engineer in the Indiana Army National Guard from 1999 to 2006 and deployed to Mosul, Iraq, in 2004. After coming home, he received help from a veteran-focused charity during a hard stretch of his life, and he built the event in response.

The format is the point. As the organization’s website puts it, a tournament hall is one of the few places where people who would never otherwise meet end up sitting across a table for six hours, talking.

“After I came home from Iraq, a veteran charity helped me through a hard stretch, and the Mary T. Klinker center is part of that story,” said Wesley Robertson, founder of Red, White, and Clix. “This event is how I give back. You sit down across from a stranger for six hours, and by the end you’re friends. If you’ve never played, come anyway. We’ll find you a seat and someone to play.”

This year’s beneficiary helps veterans who have fallen on hard times through financial assistance, peer support, and a veteran-centered approach to healing. It is named for Air Force Captain Mary T. Klinker of Lafayette, a flight nurse who was killed in 1975 while airlifting orphans out of Vietnam. It is also the organization that supported Robertson about a decade ago.

Red, White, and Clix publishes what its events do with the money. Its first event raised $15,000, and $4,000 went directly to veteran-focused causes after the venue, prizes, and catering were paid for. The second year’s fundraising went to a new equestrian therapy facility that is open and free to veterans and first responders. The organization says it will publish what this weekend raises and what is donated in the same way.
